Space and time for contemporary productions

Aaron Kaiser Garcia

AARON KAISER GARCIA is a choreographer and contemporary performance-maker with a background in Philippine folk dance, contemporary dance, and theatre. He has immersed himself in various traditional forms, including Kuttiyatam, Beijing Opera, Wayang Wong, and Noh Theatre. Aaron’s work currently explores the body’s potential to process and reveal the layered landscapes of the Filipino socio-political psyche, and how choreography can serve as an active counter to political revisionism. Trained in the folk-dance tradition, he now seeks to interrogate the term’s role in state mechanisms of violence and erasure—invoking instead the true spirit of “folk” as a mutable and mutualistic practice.
