Anna Lublina
Inspired by the card games played between Muslims and Jews on “Tahiti Beach” in Casablanca; one of the last spaces where Jews and Muslims connect in Morocco (see Return to Casablanca); Anna Lublina will create a participatory performance game that explores histories of Jewish-Muslim conviviality – before and after the modern advent of “nation states.” The aim will be to unravel current narratives that pit Jews and Muslims against each other, while creating a playful, participatory space to imagine a post-nation future.
This research will be guided by questions such as: How can we bring education tools and performance-building tools together? How can we use play as a tool of resistance against reductive political narratives? What are new ways to bring game scores and structures to the stage?
Anna Lublina is an interdisciplinary performance maker, educator, and dramaturg.
